Many of my elderly neighbors have second homes down south. They would leave after Christmas and come home for Easter. Within the past few years I have noticed that they all have been leaving early around October and not coming home until April or May. They are gone now more than 6 months. I'm sure they are doing that for tax purposes.

Or they find the weather in fall and spring too cold for them. My in-laws did the same thing as they aged until they only came back north for 3 months.

The ones i know leave in late September to go south and comes back in may before the holiday, but have recently been talking about moving south full time before they met so many people south and their old friends north are movingand grandkids are getting older so they are doing they own things compared to when they were smaller and use to have them a lot. Now they only see them once a week maybe.

...and then many move back when they and their new friends in Florida start getting sick or dying and can't help each other out anymore. Then they need to be near their kids for help. My in-laws did the snowbird thing for 20+ years and moved back to New England full time as they can't do it alone anymore.

Not sure if their cooler, but they are definitely cheaper than having CT plates. To many out of state plates is probably gonna trigger more investigations by local governments.

CT audited a senior I know. Now he keeps toll receipts, gas receipts, hotels, plane tickets. He is gone on the 182nd day.

Unless CT starts to attract businesses, free college is a gift to other states where these students move to.
