Don' forget that is just the salary at Electric Boat I put up s for ONE person. So the average worker at EB makes what the average household in CT makes. Like I said before....NOT TOO SHABBY.

This is from the 2020 Census
https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fa...T,US/PST045222

US median household income $69,021
US per capita income $37,638

Connecticut median household income $83,572
Connecticut per capita income $47,869

Fairfield County median household income $101,194
Fairfield County per capita income $61,651

So if a husband and wife both work at EB and make the average pay thier HOUSEHOULD makes $160,000. That is almost 2X the median household income in CT. That is even better than Fairfield County.

Those 5000 more jobs at EB are going to pull up the CT median income and that is awesome becuase it is outside of Fairfield County.

Bpt111 made a great point about Russia and Ukraine. Now that all of a sudden democrats support wars and war mongering, defense contractors in Blue CT only stand to profit and grow. Expect them to close deals and contracts hand over fist in the coming years. They might need another 5700 before you know it.
This is good for EB, but worry some worldwide. The longer this war goes on, the more likely it stops being just between two nations.

You can’t really survive in FFC on 100K HHI. That median is dragged down by the thousands living in poverty in Bridgeport, as well as places like Stratford and Shelton. Reality is that the typical middle to upper middle class household in Fairfield or Weston or Darien is at least 200k HHI and probably more like 300-400K.

I agree that 160k is pretty good for that region of CT, but it is assuming a dual-earner household. A single earner making 80K is not going to feel like he’s very highly paid in CT, and marriage is something that doesn’t happen for everyone anymore.

Eh the feeling of wealth might be different. You have to factor in quality of life and expenses. If someone is making say 100K in new haven they might be having the time of their life...in their 20's or 30's. But after awhile they might want a house and then it's tricky if they want the same amenities.

I agree but CT defense does stand to benefit when they are backed by notorious war mongers like Blumenthal and Murphy.

People, It's not all about W2s.
You can argue the wealth in FFC brings the medians up to 100K
Most single W2ers are probably somewhere in the 30-70K range.
I agree, realistic HHIs are closer to 200 and up for those in FFC's forests and waterfronts, but you also have to take in the fact it's not just W2 driven. There are inheritances, assets, investments, stock timing, who the hell knows what else.
One guy I know is an accounting controller in Stamford. That's prob 150-180K. Wifey stays home. 3 kids are in academies in Wesport and Fairfield, that's about 120K annual. Tack on the full season ski rental up in Stratton, the puppy was purchased from a special breeder in OR, 2 weeks in HI or Yellowstone every summer, you don't do all that on 180 W2.

Subway is putting in a Subway store if you will at the Shelton office as well. 325 Subway Dr had one as well in the basement/cafeteria. Everyone gets free lunch. Which sometimes varies beyond just subs/salads.
By leasing they get to sell possibly some valuable R.E in
Milford. One less obstacle for a new company who may abandon the Ct HQ at some point….

Are you insinuating 1099 income doesn’t count toward HHI?

Correct. You do not want to sell a corp tied to owning real estate. The CEO in Miami will, no doubt, add more and more top roles, in Fl in the future, not just for his purpose in utilizing them, but Latin America is a growth area they covet.

A huge chunk of FFC isn’t wealthy.

Bridgeport (more populous than Westport, Greenwich, Darien, and New Canaan combined), most of Norwalk, most of Stamford, Danbury, Brookfield, Newtown, Bethel, Newtown, Monroe, Shelton, Trumbull, Shelton, Stratford are all relatively affordable to normal incomes.
