Its Henkel, Jay. My godson works there. Its a good corp, Dial and Purex amongst their brands, btw. Mfg in Arizona employs thousands. Stamford is supposed to grow to 500. Of these 266, there will be tons of relocated Az transplants, my godson amongst them. The 234 new spots should be new hires, although they move folks around so much, some may be future relos.

I'm not sure how many Ct hires there will be, but surely some will occur.

Median pay while good, will be far lower than UBS or RBS. Manufacturing is not that extreme in compensation.

Who cares about that? We are talking about jobs coming to Stamford and these are good paying jobs. Jay

Are they though? I legitimately don't know so that's why I'm asking. UBS/RBS had VERY high paying jobs... my concern is this new company can't stack up..

UBS compensation of course dwarfs manufacturing, even at hq level. Still Henkel is better than nothing. Nothing was primarily Economic Development M.O. under Malloy.

UBS/RBS leaving is inevitable as the banking industry contracts. Operations will be folded down into key cities and NYC attracts better talent than Stamford.

I have reached out to my state representative to question the deal. Has anyone else bothered to do that? Or is it just easier to complain on this website? Jay
For those of us in GOP districts, there is no need to - they are 100% against the deal. And for good reason. The no layoff provision and the extension of benefits through 2027 are unacceptable. Its not a long term solution to the state's fiscal problems, and just kicks the can down the road once again. I hope that those in Sens. Doyle, Hartley and Slossberg's districts make it known that they should reject this deal.

Low wage customer service jobs (like payment specialists, etc) and IT.

The appeal of the south and Midwest is lower costs for customer service roles.

Example: My insurance through Liberty Mutual connects me to Tampa (FL), Mishawaka (IN), and Phoenix (AZ) for customer care. Corporate office is in Boston.
