It's not at all clear that "programs" and overall services are being cut. The state is trying to cut costs by privatizing the care of these people. The current situation is not good, with waiting lists and outmoded institutions consuming excessive resources. The goal is to improve services, not reduce them and to cut the state workforce. There will be bumps along the way as many get their noses out of joint. And decrying the loans to companies by these folks, whether right or not, is just another another political snow job.

I agree. The state is going to privatize the services instead of using pricey state employees. This move will help save $70 million per year. The state unfortunately needs to do everything it can to reduce its costs so that the budget gets balanced and the state can get its finances in order. Jay

I can't find the link, but Greenwich based Tudor let go 15% of the staff yesterday. Not sure if they were from Greenwich or other offices but they got slammed hard recently. Not the only hedge fund to be taking a hit lately either.

Seems like to BIo science sector is really in a position to take a strong hold in Connecticut which is a good thing. Perhaps CT can become the New Austin or research triangle.

Another day, more layoffs in CT

Tudor Investment Corp. is cutting 15 percent of its workforce, according to Bloomberg, amounting to about 60 of the 400 people employed by the Greenwich-based hedge fund

Tudor has has poor rates of returns for the past couple years. It's not a good time to be an investment firm and even Goldman Sachs laid of 1700 employees recently.
