Fitch rates $14.5b worth of CT General Liability bonds 'AA' and negative outlook. Still a 'AA' rating is decent. It shows that there is a slight risk in buying CT bonds, so in return the buyer of CT bonds will expect a higher yield.

I do not want this to turn into a gun debate, but from an economical stand point this stinks. I give Stag Arms (and others to follow) 1 year before they move. Once a growing business employing hard working people making a very good wages just had to do the first round of lay off EVER. They laid off 25% of their workers (50 out of 200). Terrible news.

This is a very strange list. CT ranks at the fifth worst state to make a living in, according to Money-rates.com.
CT has very high incomes, but the work place attitude is the second worst with only Mississippi lower than us. What does this tell you. Money can't buy happiness.

Maybe the stress level is getting the better of people.

At least in Mississippi you don't have to wear shoes at work!

CT is getting pounded on. In the past 4 years CT GDP has expanded ONLY 1.7% and last year was 0.9% (National average is 1.9%). CT is headed down the tubes. We are doing nothing of any decent growth. Building a busway, moving a minor league team 16 miles away and moving a BRANCH of a State University downtown are not what I would call major opportunities. We are just taking what we already have, which isn't working, and shuffling it. The recession has ended 5 years ago. WV is beating us!

Don't worry building 35 shopping malls will help us regain control. SMH.

relax CT is perfectly fine, a little slow growth is no big deal. I'm sure some of the others can point out some optimistic data for you.

Why would a South Carolina resident care about the rate of Ct's growth? We"re not looking to be the next southern state pining for the next generator of short term growth and "gains".

I would rather have high income, high stress than low income, high stress.

You must remember Connecticut's GDP did not shrink as much as other states did during the recession so of course we would not grow as much. All these statistics about growth are off because when a state hits rock bottom hard like say Nevada did, all the statistics on growth and housing have no where to go but up and will alwasy be higher. Connecticut has one of the most stable economy's so we do not have the wide swings. And believe me 35 shopping centers would not be proposed here without some degree in confidence in our economy. Preview of May jobs report from ADP. May shows only 190 private sector jobs added. The LOWEST out of the 29 States ADP tracks. We will wait until next week to see the real figures.

ADP: CT private sector added just 190 jobs in May | HartfordBusiness.com

Also, CT GDP grew 1% in 2013. This is meh, since GDP has been revised down or has declined in the past couple years. The biggest shock is that the financial and insurance industry in CT is taking a hit declining the MOST out of all the sectors in CT.
