It's pretty sad that job opportunities at an Amazon Warehouse is even newsworthy...these jobs pay on average $14/hour!! Wow, outlook in Connecticut sure doesn't look bright if this makes the highlights.

Distribution centers are good for any state. They have tangible and intangible benefits. LTLs, haulers, logistics, suppliers, servicers, and many other partners up on the supply chain follow.

Have you ever worked in a factory or warehouse? I have and while it was not pleasant, it was a job. Not everyone can work in an chushy air conditioned office you know. This facility will provide good jobs for lower wage earners something that any state could use. Would you rather it not be built at all? Jay

So jobs for people who earn $14 is not newsworthy? What kind of jobs do you think are being created in the so-called lower cost states that everyone is pointing to as being so desirable? Do you think it is all high-tech high-paying positions. This is a good thing and if anything it should be reported even more by our media, but sadly there has been little to nothing about it. Jay

Agreed. It's an industry that involves a significant supply chain.

I went online and looked at the jobs they were offering at Windsor and to my surprise they aren't bad at all. They offer 401k, college training, medical benefits. While the hourly pay might not be high (It didn't say online) these are not bad jobs at all. It's better than building a bunch of fast food places and calling that "job creation." Glad to see Amazon, it should be an asset to CT.

To give some perspective $14 an hour before benefits is what Volkswagen was offering when they opened the chattanooga, TN assembly plant. That was considered a pretty newsworthy event at the time and a perfect example of the types of jobs available across the south.

I suspect that $14 an hour goes significantly further in Chattanooga than it does in Connecticut.

Also, on Amazon's website for jobs these $14 hour jobs are listed as "bachelors degree preferred" and 2 years experience.

Who would go to school for 4 years to make $29,120 a year ? That might support a single person who's good at budgeting, but not supporting a family on that in CT.

Regardless, I'm sure people will be lined up around the block for these jobs, and the local staffing agencies will make a killing placing temporary warehouse workers at the site.

You can verify here

Amazon Fulfillment - Home

Also, note that no warehouse jobs are listed on that site for CT.
