A state should not rely on casinos as a source of income , the state needs to bring in and attract entrepreneurs and small to medium sized business.

There was talk about a Danbury casino, which nobody in the area wanted. But it struck me that it could have been a real money maker, being just a Metro North ride from Manhattan.

And every state wants entrepreneurs. But in a high cost, high tax state many entrepreneurs face an uphill challenge to make the monthly expenses. Maybe a nexus of talent helps, but the cost side is harder.

Looks like Quest Lab is moving New England Lab operations out of Wallingford to Mass.

MyRecordJournal.com | Meriden, CT | Quest Diagnostics lists Wallingford lab for sale

Loss of some good jobs in that town and surrounding areas.

That's a pretty scathing statement right there. I did get a chuckle out of the weather terrorists comment though : )

Check out this map of which towns paid how much income tax in 2013. Connecticut Income Tax: Who Pays The Most, Who Pays The Least? - Hartford Courant

Nothing unusual, the Gold Coast paid the most followed by West Hartford and Glastonbury.

Interesting is that almost all the gold coast towns paid between 5% and 16% LESS income tax than the previous year. Not a good sign for this years magical budget numbers.

If you click on the filter "%change from prior year. Tax Per Capita" the map shows a grim story of how CT YOY in many upper class towns have paid LESS income tax. Not good because those are the towns that hold up CT.

Towns like Glastonbury (-2%), Avon (-7%), Farmington (-1.5%), Greenwich (-15%), Stamford (-16%) and Westport (-13%).
