Maybe the first season, but do not forget what A&M did when they joined the SEC... with Big 12 players.

With the right coaching (Sark could do it, or not) there is no reason why Texas or OU couldn’t rise to the top of the SEC. We’ll just have to see. It will come, no matter what the SEC homers think.

Maybe. But Texas recruiting the last four years back to 2018. Those players are now seniors.

2021 - 15
2020 - 8
2019 - 3
2018 - 3

The problem hasn't been the talent. It's been the coaching and developing. Even right now, Texas is 11th. It's going to come down to Sark coaching the talent that's already on campus. Even Bob Stoops said talent is not the issue at Texas in 2021. Herman and Strong were absolutely terrible at development.

I remember when Herman and Strong first years and the staff they hired. Both were underwhelming. Both hired underwhelming offensive minds. Strong wasn't ready for a job like Texas and Herman was too full of himself. The jury is still out on Sark. As they say on one Texas board, we suck until we don't.

Spade called it correctly.
Texas could easily have run the table last year if it hadn’t been for poor coaching at some of the positions, and a number of stupid decisions by Herman. Two stupid plays in the LSU game in 2019 cost the Horns a victory over the national champs.
Most folks probably don’t know how hated Herman was by last season. Almost everyone in Austin was thrilled to see him get fired even though he did improve the team greatly over the Charlie Strong fiasco. Not many coaches can win 4 bowl games in a row and get fired, but Mensa Tom somehow managed to do it.
