This is actually his 3rd year. So far at Notre Dame, this is what he'd done:

2005 Notre Dame 9-3 Lost Fiesta Bowl
2006 Notre Dame 10-3 Lost Sugar Bowl
2007 Notre Dame 1-9

Total Record: 20-15

Here is Tyron Willingham's numbers at Notre Dame:

2002 Notre Dame 10-3 Lost Gator Bowl
2003 Notre Dame 5-7
2004 Notre Dame 6-5 Lost Insight Bowl
Total Record: 21-15

So as you can see, the numbers are very identical, same number of years for both coaches but yet Charlie boy got an extension and gets to keep his job.

Exactly! And evidently, he wasn't that bad of a recruiter either.

Weis got the extension last year in his 2nd year! in willinghams 2nd year he went 5-7 would you give an extension to someone with that kind of record? this year is the first year weis has his own players playing there young and inexperienced give them this year to learn next year we will be a powerhouse. i remember at the begginning of the season we could not score at all! and now we score every game and we were in it against air force and boston college. we arent getting blown out. personally i think weis needs to give up the play calling and just coach because that 2 point conversion play call against navy was the dumbest call ever! now if next year we suck and have a losing record he will be gone for sure.he is just getting his offense installed there. just give him time...maybe he will get us back to some bowl games and we can actually win.

The scary thing is that ND has one of the youngest teams in the country and Weis is on track to recruit one of the top freshman classes (again). Its mostly frosh and sophs playing every week against a pretty tough schedule. These guys will be hungry for revenge and redemption in the coming years.
If Weis can pull his head out of his backside and get them playing fundamental blue collar ND football - they will be very good (top 5) in about 2 years.

Notre Dame has only had one recruiting class ranked worse than 7th in the past twenty years, yet what is their bowl record?
