i did notice the one on Portertown closed...wasn't surprised though..I figured once Sheetz went out that way they would be gone sooner or later. Didn't know about the others.
Kangaroo gas station recently closed in Vanceboro and the gas tanks have been removed. What's with that? It seems if they were going to sell them, whoever buys them might want to sell gas. They must be doing this because of financial difficulties or lack of business at these sites. Or maybe they're going to remodel them as convenience stores only.

Reason: correction
Kangaroo is in financial trouble. They have had an extensive list of stations for sale for a long time but no one is biting so I guess they're finally closing some of them down.
The tank removal is likely because the stations that are being closed are very old. Portertown Road and Ayden are old Fast Fare locations.
Sounds like they expanded way too fast. I remember seeing them pop up all over Western NC and the Piedmont seemingly overnight a few years ago, then a bunch all over Eastern NC a couple years later.
Yeah, we just noticed that the Ayden Kangaroo closed and were quite bummed; it was the closest Redbox location to our house
not sure where exactly you live in Ayden but their is a Redbox outside of the Walmart Express and don't forget Food Lion and Piggly Wiggly both have Blue boxes (Blockbuster)

We live in Countryaire and crossing Hwy 11 is kind of a drag... And the Blue Boxes dont carry Blu-Rays...
A section of Worthington Rd. will be closed on 7/9/12 to fix the bridge, the sign didn't say for how long.
