Sounds like they are close. I read this article as preservation of a 100 plus year old downtown building for an economic catalyst in Greenville's downtown core and they have started hiring...
Looks like money well spent to me. A great Greenville investment.
With a $16,500 fine and them not being done still, I wonder how they're going to be able to include that into their budget and not go under.
The marquee even looks cheap though. It looks like something you’d see outside of a dive bar. Check out what the Appalachian Theatre on King Street in Boone has - they’re currently doing the same type of renovation. Or even the Turnage in Washington.

I see what you mean...I'm sure some corners were cut. I wasn't originally a huge fan of this 3 year renovation. I thought they'd be able to tear down & rebuild in less time & for less $$$. But it's here now, and whenever it finally opens, it will hopefully be a nice place to go to for live performances.

I agree. They should have installed a canopy more like the one that the State Theater had. The whole exterior is hiddeous, looks more like a bar than a theater. I thought the exterior was supposed to be restored to its original look. The Turnage Theater puts it to shame and it is a really attractive addition to Washington's downtown.
