Contract awarded for the new VA Outpatient Clinic/Hospital thing. It is located on Moye Blvd, north of 5th St. The 116,000 square feet facility is seven times larger than the current building. It should open late 2013 and could approach 200 additional positions.
This seems like an extreme win win. Not only does the military get better care now. The ones on the coast, I assume, won't have to travel to Durham as much. PLUS I assume there will be an affiliation with Brody and ECU. That will allow more internship and entry level jobs.

This is excellent, although expected, news. Greenville has in just the last couple of years, really solidified it's place as the Go To for medicine in Eastern Carolina. ECU Physicians, Brody School Of Medicine and PCMH are rapidly being joined by other facilites. The number of large facilities has literally doubled in the 5 years since I've moved here. It seems like there is constant construction around the hospital.

As we should. We have the only Level 1 trauma center and all of this is/was being pushed by the School of Medicine.
I noticed that, I hope they remodel it similar to the one in Goldsboro on Wayne Memorial BLVD. If you haven't seen it, then I'll just say it appears to be super modern compared to any of ours.
Too bad I don't like McDonalds though lol
Looks like the Intermodal Center is changing locations. A private (I believe) development will create it at Dickinson and Reade.
Don't like how it took this long and how it is a 3ish blocks away from ECU. Hopefully there will be a connection between the two, to pull everything west and south.
Sheetz is planning a new store for Greenpark Dr./Hwy 13/11 in Greenville. I don't know exactly where that is, but I think it is somewhere near Food Lion north of the river.
It's the business development just north of the Staton House FD building. Right now there are no buildings, just roads.
