Yes, the Winterville Charter Academy changed their name from Patriot (if you by chance heard of Patriot). There are plans for another charter school in Pitt Co. as well. But I haven't heard much from that one yet. Those are the first design renders i have seen from Winterville Charter Academy though, they look nice!

In the most recent East magazine it says that the new Student Union at ECU will front 300 feet of 10th Street and include a 700 space parking deck and will be completed by the 2018 fall semester. It is a $122 million dollar project.

As well it says that a $4 million dollar Dance building will be built one block west of the 10th and Evans intersection and is to be completed by early 2016.

I've seen the renderings, and it looks large in those. But, I'm sure once its built, it will seem gigantic. I guess they're building it big enough so it doesn't become obsolete as quickly as Mendenhall did.

I've also been wondering about the design and location. It doesn't seem to meet the requirements in the Master Plan for either. It should be a pretty nice building, though.

Pretty sure the location of the new student center is between Charles St and the ECU police building. The Wendy's building will be torn down as will the Baptist Student Center. I would assume the parking deck would be where the existing surface parking is now behind Mendenhall. I think this location is consistent with the Master Plan in that ECu planned to build toward 10th St and called for a new Student Center.

The Dance Building doesn't seem to be consistent with the Master Plan...it appears it will be near the Warehouse District ECU owns...but then again I would assume a dance building would be a warehouse style type building with large rooms. The 10th St Connector construction is supposed to break ground in February so it seems construction will go on for both at the same time.

I've seen the renderings, and I don't believe they're staying. I know, long term, that side of the building will be expanded. So far, they've only renovated the left side.

Name change for the City Limits Saloon - it will be the Uptown Saloon. Peasants Pub is closed and is being renovated for a new business.

That didn't last long. Ever since BW3's left that location, it has had turn over. I admit I never went to Peasants, I heard the food wasn't any good so I never made a trip. I'm hoping Fitzgerald's can make it down there because they actually have quite good food & really made the place look nice.

Maybe Peasants just needs to be renovated into an office building...or a Hooters, I've always been surprised that there isn't a Hooters uptown.
