Apparently the BB&T that was slated to be built next to the new Walmart is on hold as they are currently down sizing. I'm told they still own the land but aren't going to develop it any time soon. I wonder if this is also affecting the McDonald's that is supposed to be built there as well. Either way the Highway 55 and the nail salon in the strip next to the new Walmart look to be almost ready to open. Also, the other three lots on the Portertown side are done and ready for development. I'm really hoping for some decent restaurants. Hopefully whatever does get built there will be more stable than the in and out of business routine that seems so common with the restaurants on Greenville Blvd.
good lord, another Family Dollar is popping up on Evans beside that Pirate Stuff place. Don't we have enough of them in this town? They must be profitable.
Look what is across the road. That is why it is being built there. I rather keep the field/trees that were there.
A little info on Washington (near Greenville).....a Zaxby's is under construction on the main drag, obviously taking advantage of the lack of a Chick-Fil-A in Washington.
As well, the Highway 17 widening north of town to Hwy 171 (Old Ford) should be done by the end of the year. This will make Highway 17 4-lane from Hwy 171 down through Washington/Chocowinity on the bypass to Hwy 102.
Back in Greenville on 264 (across from the North Rec Intramural fields) the new Country Casuals Discount Shoes has opened.

I continue to hear an Applebee's & Chick-fil-A going out there...anyone else? I haven't been to Applebee's in years but I'd probably go every now & then because there are not other restaurants like that in my area out there. Chick-Fil-A would also be awesome since they are all on the other side of town.
[quote=LancePippin0982;31453444]Looks like something is about to go in front of Pitt CC in between McDonald's and Sheetz on South Memorial... Anyone know anything about this?!

They really needed to upgrade Highway 33 from Greenville to Chocowinity instead. Or even 264 between Washington/Greenville.

That's the plan. I'm friends with the owner of Big Boys Auto Recycling in Grimesland. He had to rebuild his main shop after a storm took out the old one last year. He was told that he had to move the new building back on his property so there would be enough room for 4 lanes through there. It's not even being budgeted for yet, but it's definitely on the wish list.
