How would what? If you're asking how Ohio's abortion restrictions would negatively impact the CCF, consider that there is a national shortage of doctors and nurses. Especially the best persons in their fields have many options. Young professionals, especially those who want to start a family, don't want anything to do with states with strict reproductive rights restrictions. CCF research efforts and the Case Western and Lerner medical schools also will lose top-notch candidates.

OB/GYN professionals especially will avoid Ohio like the plague.

There are many, many articles such as this one.

I wonder what it would take to oust Mayo. Can't recall that CCF has ever done that.
There was another cut of the Newsweek hospital rankings that showed the score for each hospital.

https://www.newsweek.com/rankings/wo.../united-states

Mayo still stands alone with a clear break, differentiating it above Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General, the two closest contenders.

Mayo 97.5%
CC 92.59%
Mass General 92.27%

The good news is there’s another 3% separating CC and Mass General from the text tier of hospitals below them (Johns Hopkins, etc.)

Would appear to be very tough to unseat Mayo.

Personally, I care more about specialty rankings (e.g., cancer, cardiac, etc.), but overall hospital rankings are important also.

Mayo just has a long-standing rep for excellence. CCF is a bit of a Johnny-come-lately which really got a major boost in the 70s (?) when wealthy Arab oil sheiks came to Cleveland/CFF for heart transplantation. CCF was already known in the medical industry but exploded in the wider public mind after that. And with that, the dollars started flowing in and research facilities expanded like wildfire. The Cleveland Clinic brand has become so popular that the institution is gobbling up hospital systems all over the place and expanding across the country and world to LA, Florida, and London among others. Regardless of rankings, which are important but don't tell the entire story, the Cleveland Clinic name is golden everywhere, it really has become on par with Johns Hopkins ... and that's really saying something.

Mass General is connected to Haaavaad. Enough said.

All of this is past history. Bad decisions can change the course of history in a very short period of time, even instantly. And recovering from these bad decisions can be difficult and very costly.

DEVELOPMENT IN GREATER CLEVELAND MAY BECOME MUCH MORE SPARSE THAN IF OHIO REPUBLICANS WEREN'T IMPOSING RELATIVELY STRICT RESTRICTIONS ON REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS.

Ohio's radical Republicans with their desire to ban all abortions, including abortion pills, and to otherwise restrict reproductive rights in Ohio demonstrate an anti-scientific bias that is appalling to most younger Americans and to an even larger majority of young medical professionals.

What medical professionals are eager to practice in an environment where medical procedures are criminalized, threatening medical licenses and careers, even though these same medical procedures are legal elsewhere in the U.S., including Michigan, and most of the developed world outside the U.S.??? What medical professionals want to see their patients and their families suffer because doctors can't exercise their professional training as a result of ideologues imposing their will on Ohioans, a majority of whom likely disagree with the restrictions on reproductive rights being imposed?

What prospective medical professionals want to attend medical schools or serve as residents at medical institutions in such an environment?

What foreign medical students, an important source of medical talent at the CC, will find the CC as attractive as a training destination as medical institutions in jurisdictions that don't impose anti-scientific restrictions on reproductive rights?

Ohio's existing and prospective restrictions on reproductive rights pose a significant risk for young professionals desiring to start or expand families, and especially women in general. Medical professionals who especially are aware of the consequences of Ohio's reproductive rights restrictions generally will find the restrictions abhorrent and a reason to look elsewhere.

The Cleveland Clinic and the general quality of medical care in Greater Cleveland hangs in the balance IMO. The CC and other Ohio medical institutions at a minimum may have to pay more to attract young professionals, raising the cost of insurance, co-pays, and health insurance expenses for Ohio corporations and businesses, and the caliber of young medical professionals willing to locate in Greater Cleveland likely will suffer in any scenario in which Ohio continues to impose relatively strict restrictions on reproductive rights.

If staffing levels and the quality of medical professionals decline, as appears inevitable if the Republican limitations on reproductive rights are implemented, all Greater Clevelanders needing medical care will suffer the consequences.

The CC and other medical institutions in Greater Cleveland and Ohio will face increased legal fees as consultations with lawyers and additional legal training for medical professionals will become necessary as a result of Ohio's restrictions on reproductive rights.

Neither the Mayo Clinic nor Mass General will face the legal burden imposed by relatively strict restrictions on reproductive rights now confronting the CC, let alone the competitive disadvantage in recruiting as already explained.

The lack of recognition of this threat to a foundation of Cleveland's economy and quality of life by our politicians and our media is appalling IMO.

Young professionals in all fields, including teaching, will find states such as Michigan that protect reproductive rights much more attractive locations to launch careers than Ohio. So our general economy and society are at risk as well.

Cannot give you rep until I spread some around..but this is certainly 100% spot on.
Republicans are trying to ruin Ohio and the USA in general.

Gift to CCF from the United Arab Emirates. Undisclosed amount. Why not disclose it?

https://www.crainscleveland.com/heal...ancer-research

Here's a pic of what they've built (and are continuing to build) in Abu Dhabi: https://www.mediaoffice.abudhabi/en/...ospitals-2022/

They should at least tell us where the decimal point is.

OK, I'll stop harping on CCF after this last post. Their total assets stand at $21.8B. They have the 13th largest endowment, amongst all endowments of any kind, at over $10B (this is larger than Mayo, BTW.)

Little of this will have any impact on the quality of staffing at the CCF's Ohio operations if young Americans consider Ohio the Midwestern Texas when it comes to individual liberties.
