What are some cities around the country that are experiencing a lot of construction in their downtown areas? I always find it interesting how cities continue to better themselves, and for some of the cities I haven't been to, I would like to know what is going on there. Some that I do know of right now are within less than 500 miles.

Charlotte continues to improve their great skyline. Construction cranes dot just about every corner of it. I still hope their tallest stays the tallest, you can't beat it. Cesear Pelli is a great architect.

Cincinnati is currently building their tallest skyscraper right now, and it is really adding to the eastern half of the skyline. The billion dollar Banks Project is also underway on the city's central riverfront. Hotels, restaurants, and condos will be going in. Contruction cranes are all over the eastern half of the skyline.

Philadelphia I am so proud of my hometown. City Center has literally transformed itself in the last decade. Comcast Center and the new expansion on the convention center. Over 90,000 people living in the city center right now. Philly is on a roll. Lets hope American Commerce Tower starts soon.

Lets here what your city is doing.

A few honorable mentions, but haven't been to them in a few years are:

Oklahoma City and Austin

REMINDER:

The wording of the 1st post is such that this could easily turn into a skyline thread, and please make note of the most recent room sticky: https://www.city-data.com/forum/city-...e-skyline.html

So please, keep this topic about "cities with lots of construction going on". If this turns into another skyline comparision/discussion thread, it will need to be closed.

Thank you

Ok, well I didn't have intentions for that. I could see how people could easily do this, but I created this thread to find out about CONSTRUCTION going on in cities around the country. Not skylines...

There is actually still quite a bit of mid to high-rise condo development within CC Philly even with the real estate crash (though overall Philly didnt fall as much nor did it heat up as much during the boom)

Jersey City has been building up its skyline so rapidly, and it's still goin!
Liberty Harbor is something to see. It's like a modern Park Slope (Brooklyn)

I know people are weary of the ubiquitous skyline competition, however I will say that Austin has added probably a good half a dozen buildings in the past 5 years, one of which is currently the tallest in the city. There's also the Seaholm project going on, that's supposed to add another series of condos and buildings. The Waller Creek project is also going to allow for increased density in another part of downtown. Plus there are a number of restaurants and movie theaters popping up all over the place. Just a crap load of construction in general.
