Neither. San Diego is too bland, too close to the border, and too close to conservative, superficial Orange county. Seattle just has far too much rain for my tastes.
San Francisco, then New York, then DC, then Chicago for me.

On Fox a few days ago Mark Grace called Chicago: "the best city in the country."
But it's between San Diego and Seattle so Seattle.
Since I live in Seattle, it's definately Seattle over San Diego. San Diego reminds me of one big boring suburb with the same boring weather year around, a weak overpriced real estate market, strip malls. Seattle on the other hand is compact, dense, walkable, cooler people, better nightlife, a far better downtown, much more attractive natural beauty, just is more of a real city imo. San Diego, beachy and sunny as it is just doesn't cut it for me.
Nothing against Seattle, but San Diego really is America's finest city. I went down to San Diego on a daytrip last Saturday. Check out my photo tour! And BTW, San Diego has tons of urban areas and is bustling with high rise urban condo construction. Anybody who thinks San Diego is boring and/or lacks urban areas either hasn't been to San Diego in the last 15 years or is just plain stubborn and doesn't want to see what doesn't conform to their preconceptions. However, my pictures though focus more on the neighborhood stuff, since I wasn't really in the mood to walk around highrises that day. But San Diego has no lack of the urban stuff as well.
