Everyone I know *loves* Seattle. Much of my family lives there and I begrudgingly visit often. It is not for me! It is so gray and compact. I feel like I can't breathe; it's just too squished together. The parking is horrendous and expensive! Moreover, the people are aloof.
OMG...it sounded like you were talking about NYC for a second there.
FWIW I personally talked to Phillies + Padre manager(Yankee +Dodger coach) Larry Bowa and asked him what the best city in the country was.Now heres a guy who has been in every major city in the country dozens of times. He told me, and I quote, "San Diego is the best city in the usa and its not even close."
And, they have an overbearing air of being pretentiously unpretentious...everything has to be an alt version of something else--whether it's music or pizza. They like to think they invented all the coolness in the country since 1991.
Better an "alt version" of something, rather than the same old, same old version of something found in nearly any city in the country, Seattle is not immune to the later either…
All I got to say about that "America's Finest City" slogan crap is that is was made up by former SD mayor Pete Wilson after we lost the bid to host the Republican National Convention one year and it really means nothing.
