This... Philly & particularly Baltimore are leagues behind cities like Chicago, DC, NYC or LA hence their comparatively ridiculous murder rates.

When external money isn't being invested in the city nothing changes.

Regarding the comments in bold, you make it seem like Dallas is experiencing unprecedented levels of violence never seen before, which isn't the case. Anyone familiar with the city would know there were times when the situation was much worse. Crime rates in Dallas peaked in the late 1980s and early 1990s, like they did in many major U.S. cities. Since then, despite fluctuations from year to year, the overall trend has been downward. The recent uptick in homicides and violent crimes is unfortunate, but even with those increases, Dallas in 2019-20 is still safer and less violent than Dallas in 2010, 2000, 1995, or 1990.

Salt Lake City and County are still at 0 as far as I know. A good start after 16 and over 44 Homicides in the county last year.

Wow. That's interesting. Philly can and has had about 30 at this point and ended the year with like 315, but can just as likely be at about 12 now and have 360 by the end of the year.

Ikr. What's going on in Dallas? Houston literally has 950,000 more people. What's more is Dallas is usually talked about among black folks as the more uppity and prissy of the two cities with a professional reputation, while Houston is known to be the more casual party city with a more wild reputation.

Philly always has the most for the first few months. Last year Chicago didn't overtake Philly until the beginning of April but still managed to end the year with 140 more homicides than Philly.

14 for NYC.

Lower number than last year. Crazy how in 1990 NYC would have been at 144 murders at this point.
