When I move to a new city, I always look at the crime in neighborhoods where I would be living working and playing not necessarily what the city stats are. You could live in Anchorage and live in a dangerous hood. So yes, the city vs city comparisons doesn't give you the full view of safety.
Yesterday around 4:50pm in Dorchester two groups of teens got into a fight at a major intersections. Three teens were stabbed and one passed away this afternoon.

Oakland is amazing right now. Could be a new success story in that regard if this keeps up, but I'm sure people will credit it heavily on gentrification.

It had 70 last year, down from 166 in 1992. But will wait before getting too excited about the slow start in 2020.
