this is the 5th shooting of the day. This is the third homicide on Wheatland Ave since June 4. 16 of the city’s 21 homicide have occurred in Dorchester, all west of Dorchester Ave. this means 16 of the city’s 21 homicides have taken place in 4 square miles

God Damnit Dorchester. Hopefully, this new redistribution of funds from the BPD budget helps out the Dot.

Dorchester is the seat of gang activity now, Roxbury has been exceptionally quiet.

The last man who was murdered there was the father of one of my former middle school students. We knew he was gang affiliated when his son enrolled. Seeing as both these homicides occurred on the same street I’d suspect the two were close rather than enemies. I expect to see retaliation. Probably within Dorchester..

Sorry this just the second murder

Looks like Atlanta is following the national trend. Ever since the George Floyd protests it's been chaotic and more recently the local police shooting of Rayshard Brooks, which has been ruled a homicide. Meanwhile there was a drive-by shooting of 7 people which killed at least 2 victims, and another one in Downtown this morning. That puts the count at at least 45 based on my knowledge, plus any additional that I don't know about. I also think the gap has been closed compared to last year's numbers to date, and exceeded it for the first time this year. Atlanta had a great start to 2020, maybe about the only good news this year. We are still not at the halfway point and I'm just counting the days until this nightmare of a year is over.

After all the anti-cop rhetoric and sentiment from the media, "activists," and politicians, no one should be surprised by the 2020 homicide and other crime spikes in cities across America.

Why does BPD always give lower totals when there are clear list like over at UniversalHub that show its more than what they’re putting out?

It seems like 10+ homicides go unofficially counted every year

The BPD website gives an update of the totals every other week or so. The person that runs the universal hub blog updates totals more frequently.

London Ont City {430k} remains at 1 but the total for the Metro {550k} now is 2 as a man was murdered in a small suburban town outside the city. He was killed one week after his husband was drowned in Alberta.
