I used to work as a flight attendant for a major airline and have been all over. The airports I feel R the nicest are:
Denver
Portland
Indianapolis
Detroit
San Diego
Tampa/Orlando
Worst/ugliest/oldest:
Philadelphia
New York/JFK
Oakland, CA
St.Louis/Lambert
Bob Hope/Burbank/Pasadena, CA
Washington DC/Reagan National
Just curious, but when did you fly through National last? The old terminal (mostly A now I believe) looks very 60's and communist. The new terminal is very nice and it's a moving sidewalk and Metro ride away from anywhere in the DC area.
Cincinnati, although way overbuilt and now very empty, is a very beautiful airport. So are Louisville and Lexington, and not just because they're small. All three airports (yes, including Cincy) are in the state of Kentucky and they do their airports very well! I would like to fly into Owensboro at some point as they have resumed commercial flights.
D/FW and SFO's international terminal are also very nice.
M/SP is well-maintained and very modern, but I almost felt like the staff there were a little snooty, as if "Minnesota Nice" is just a passive-aggressive form of insincere niceness; hopefully I'm wrong.
I realize a lot of people dislike Chicago O'Hare, but collectively I like it. I also like Chicago Midway. For all the corruption they have in Illinois politics, at least they have world-class airports to welcome visitors.
I've never flown in or out of Sacramento, but watch this quick vid and tell me their new terminal isn't spectacular! It looks as nice as, well, anything I've ever seen.

Pittsburgh has a really good (and nice) airport but like Cinci is a bit underused these days with US having pulled out the hub years ago

was gona say the same. PIT is HUGE but usage is just way down. A very underutilized airport that was built for much more capacity. at least there is lots of room to roam around
Hartsfield-Jackson is the best aiport in the US .. by a longshot.
Sorry, just dont see it. I find this airport to be dirty with very poor quality service at all levels. Restrooms are the worst Ive seen. Food quality, cleanliness and customer service are the worst hands down.
For my domestic travel, I try and connect thru Houston or DFW. For international, connections in Baltimore, DFW, Seattle and Anchorage are the prefered choice.
Spend some time overseas and you will see Atlanta is not a very good first impression to the USA?
BWI (Baltimore-Washington International) in Baltimore is pretty nice I think, nice nd clean and low fares cause Southwest and AirTran have nice 60 or 70% of the slots and is in a convenient location. Las Vegas has an interesting airport with the casino inside. I personally find Chicago O'Hare pretty impressive with the artwork there especially in the tunnels under the runway connecting the different terminals
Dallas Love Field is nice and small with very short walking distances between check in and your gate which is good. The worst airport I been to is Miami International though that was many years ago.
I've done some more traveling recently and I need to add Minneapolis/St. Paul and Detroit to the list of really nice airports. I was pleasantly surprised in both of these cities. And Detroits music and light show on the passenger people mover between the two terminals was extremely elegant and pleasant.
Let me also commend airports that have recently or are about to consolidate their rental car facilities into one building, making it much easier for travelers. Seattle has a new one and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread!!
IMHO Best!
San Diego
Denver
Detroit
Minneapolis-St. Paul
Raleigh-Durham
Ft. Lauderdale
Austin

I agree. Atlanta is a hub jungle for Delta and nothing more. For international travel I prefer to have more options than just Delta. For an airport that size to have just a few foreign flag carriers is a disgrace. Especially since US carriers for international travel rank below many Asian/European airlines for service quality.
