I think Detroit is good contender as well. Atlanta, Detroit, DC, Phily, Chicago(even though it's quite segragated) and Harlem have great roles in representing the plight of Black America.

Detriot is the blueprint of black america. Even what it is today, represents what being black actually is in the United States. Many blacks worked in those autoplants & made good money. And they didnt walk around saying "LOOK AT ME IM BLACK I MAKE A GOOD LIVING" they just worked & brought up their families...til crack came in.
