MLK Day is an official state holiday in SC. I remember when it got officially recognized in 2000 because I was still in undergrad. We went from having classes on the day to having it off.
Ok, word. I didn't know that. As you know, there are so many rumors about SC. Which, actually should deserve some mention when it comes to black culture.
Yeah, crack messed up many neighborhoods across the nation. Something that many 'hoods experienced nationwide(South, Northeast, Midwest, and West).
Imagine....all that money, all those broken homes, all those 80s babies now becoming parents. The Future is scary in the hood. Before crack, there was a code, after crack its been down hill.
The rest of Black America doesn't view Atlanta as a place with any sort of mystique about it, and not viewed as unique, trendsetting or intriguing by the rest of Black America. So the only expanation as to why Atlanta recieved such a disproportionate number of votes as the Black Capital of America over other cities that have far stronger cases as Atlanta, is likely due to people from Atlanta responding in numbers twice as high as everywhere else combined. Matter fact the first thing that comes to mind in the rest of Black America when Atlanta is mentioned is the Gaytl, not the Black Capital of America.

The biggest gainer was Atlanta, a magnet for black professionals. Its metro area added about 500,000 African-Americans between the 2000 and 2009 period, and more than twice the next-largest numeric gainer, Dallas, according to an analysis of Census data by William H. Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
I'm late but I'm going to comment anyway, maybe because I'm young Atlanta come's to mind. I'm from Chicago allot blacks leaving for Atlanta. I'm knocking Atlanta but don't understand why blacks think Atlanta the only city to achieve success.
