I've never heard any Christian say this before. My Baptist pastor says that people will miss heaven by 6 inches, and points to the distance between the head and the heart. You've posted all these comments about hell existing, and the whole time you've believed that it just takes knowledge of Jesus to avoid hell? I've been really confused about your views, but now I think it makes sense that you sound so rehearsed and educated in theology. You think that's what matters to God.
yeah. i really believe knowing the bible word for word or believing in God but not doing what He preach is not the way to eternal life. you just have to remember that's how the pharisees in Jesus time live their life, they are sure they have a good relationship with God but Jesus is VERY obvious on His disagreement with them.

1 Corinthians 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

God IS Love. The Holy Spirit works through MAN'S HEART. You will run around in circles chasing your tail if your heart is closed off and boarded up. The HEART is the path to truth. It's where God does His work. IN AND THROUGH THE HEART of man.

The heart is the key.

I think you will find that it's fundy's that believe the devil has more power than God that he the devil can thwart His will and desire to save all.

Satan is not God. That is your twisted idea.

Quite frankly there is no getting through to you. You have shown repeatedly that you have absolutely no interest in the truth and no understanding of God or the things of God. You have constructed your own beliefs which have nothing whatsoever to do with the word of God.

Therefore, I will spend no more time on you.
Yes you have Mike, all your posts have explained it very well. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:6 "Don't give what is holy to unholy people. Don't give pearls to swine, they will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you".

No, universalists are always talking about how hell doesn't exist and we are showing why it does exist. The devil is real and there is a spiritual battle going on!

The church system talks more about hell, sin and the devil more than the good news.

Just read at least half of the thread titles on here.

I was always taught that Eph. 6:12 told of a spiritual battle between satan and good... yes good because he attacks everyone, I guess...

Here is the verse:
(NIV)For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

But when you look at the usage of heavenly realms it doesn't seem to make sense...

Take Eph. 1:3 for example:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Here the "US" is in the heavenly realms which must include the writer...right? Later in the chapter (verse 8) he states that the "us" is blessed with God's glorious grace which seems to be those very spiritual blessings, yet they are still alive, I believe... I don't see where it could mean later after they went to heaven...

Eph 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

This doesn't imply them actually going anywhere but that they are seated with him IN JESUS....

But then we have this:
Eph 1:20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,

Now that sounds more like Christ is definitely dead when he goes to the heavenly realms...

But...
Eph. 3:10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms

So then again it doesn't make sense that the church cause the wisdom of God to be shown in heaven? surely they knew that up there already...

The word is epouranios which means: above the sky -- celestial, (in) heaven(-ly), high.

Two out of three mean just high above humans... not necessarily in heaven, but highly exalted as well...

So what I plan to do is read through Eph. to get a feel for what definition fits where in context...

The way I understand it now is that the flesh battles with the spirit on a constant basis. This produces "free will" by having a bad and a good choice...right? because if you had only a choice of Good then you wouldn't truly have free will.

Thus the struggle is not between your flesh and my flesh, but my spirit against my flesh. Thus the heavenly places or higher ground as we would say today.

Anyone else understand it that way?

ILNC and CW2L, do you agree with Mike that head knowledge and heart knowledge are the same thing?

I believe people and know there is a God with their mind, but not know Him with their heart.
