Dear Leanan I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved Meeko. I know he loves you still, and is grateful to you for freeing him. I hope he visits you while he waits to come back. xx

Thank you so much, I know this is affecting you as well. There was, and still is, a connection between you and Meeko, separate from me, that I don't fully understand.

I haven't heard from him, except, right as his body got heavy in my arms ... "THIS is no pain"

In fact the house is SO quiet now, except for the new Saber kitten, that it feels like I'm underwater.

I've only gone out twice since he left, and each time it was difficult walking back in the door without him there, crying for me and wanting to jump on my back so he could peek out the door.

We moved to Texas shortly after loosing TwoStep. Perfect house, perfect husband, ... Something was not right. Just a little nagging feeling. It was gone after we brought Cha-Cha and ShadowCat home when we wanted to get a litter of kittens. We talked about for quite a while. DH said that TwoStep could not leave until her people were taken care of. Crazy? Maybe?

I often have very vivid, full color, tactile dreams, but I never feel like I'm awake and out of my body.

I just had such a dream, full sensory awareness, but this time when I walked from my bedroom to the living room, I could see my body [still] asleep in my bed. I found Meeko in the living room, he was in his "spot" in his cat tree, and as I pet him and cuddled his head, I could feel and smell him ... it was so sweet

leanansidhex,
I'm soooooooo sorry.

Quote:
Friend, please don't mourn for me,

I'm still here, though you don't see.

I'm right by your side each night and day,

And within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near,

I'm everything you feel, see or hear.

My spirit is free, but I'll never depart,

As long as you keep me alive in your heart.
((Hugs))

Excerpts from this link provided by lechon (Thank You) in this thread https://www.city-data.com/forum/cats/...l#post30419714

Psychology and the Missing Cat

PSI Trailing:

" a few explanations for this phenomenon. One is that perhaps there is some dis-equilibrium when closely bonded creatures are separated, something that could one day be explained with something similar to Bell's Theorem. "
<snip>
"If we mammals are made of cells, molecules, and atoms, maybe the bond between two creatures is not just with the "heart" but also some sort of "rhythm" on an "actual" cellular or atomic level that is disrupted when the physical bond is disrupted?"

Every now and then, my current cat will do something obscure that a previous cat used to do. It's almost like she's channeling them. It's very deliberate, and afterwards, she'll jump into my lap, stare at me, and purr.

The plan, if such things are possible, is for Meeko to come back to our family, in a healthy body, and healthy mind.

His only concern was ... "Will mommy still love me if I don't look the same?" It broke my heart.

I 'found' Meeko [again] at a feral cat rescue on Sept 20th. By that time I felt certain he had been back for over 2 months, but I just couldn't find him. I actually got a little bit panicked that I might not be able to keep my promise to him; to find him and try to give him the life he deserved.

He's home with us now, and he and Tiger [Saber] are inseparable.

It took less than one day for Meeko, now known as Marcello aka Cheddar, to be accepted, and integrate back into the family.
