Yes... but it is related and the point many have made... CA is over regulated to the point of excluding sound practices...

Just think the cost of roving teams of Air Inspectors canvassing Bay Area neighborhoods on Thanksgiving and Christmas eve.

Or the expense of compliance only to later be told... sorry.

Spending is out of control and there will never be enough money unless we are willing to go back to fundamentals and ditch all the ginger bread feel good stuff wasting public resources.

A lot of the current fiscal problems our the result of stifling government regulations on all levels...

Many companies have added full time compliance officers just to keep-up and not run afoul of ever increasing regulations.

Often, competing agencies have overlapping authority generating duplicate license and compliance fees.

The Bay Area lost 5,000 manufacturing jobs this year when NUMMI closed it's Fremont Auto Plant and another 10,000 ancillary jobs servicing the plant... a huge blow to CA.

For several years NUMMI tried to modernize and expand on land held solely for this purpose and the permitting process his a road block because of a family of owls living on the property... it is this kind of thinking that drives down the tax base and business out of state.

Your preaching to the choir Pastor. Nice homily though. Having dealt with the CARBs team of NAZI jackbooted thug inspectors in the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District since the 1990's I am well aware of the issues.

I wasn't complaining just commenting. Continue.

If the new Governor wants to send a strong signal that CA is open for business... he will have every opportunity in the coming days.

Taxes that work best are taxes that take a small percentage of economic activity as opposed to those taking from what is already existing...

Thousands of CA farm workers have been furloughed because CA farmers were denied water...

It can takes years for orchards to produce income and who in their right mind would make the investment knowing water can be turned off?

Agriculture is one of CA strong suits that cannot be outsourced without a concerted effort to drive it away.

A voice of sanity and reason in the looney bin of California.

For the record, there are 600+ Billion in deficit from State employees coming that IMO should be null and void. Let them all have SS except for the fire, police and military. Even there restrict the mistakes in how they overpay retirement.

How about paying health inspectors to go to the state fair and check to make sure they are using the right kinds of oil/lard to deep fry twinkles in??? This state is so backwards, it's pathetic and everyone runs around saying how intelligent and "forward thinking" we are.
