You must have missed the "and a new alternator" part.
oh...oops....
Still though....that shouldn't have cost more than $200 max. I've never paid more than $120 for any stock alternator....and frankly can't imagine the cables costing more than that.
Let's just put this to rest and call it a day. The Big 3 will no longer exist! Or they may be bought out by the Chinese. Their reliabilty sucks! We just paid another 400.00 on our Ford Focus. This was after paying 850.00 for battery wires and a new altenator. We're done! Honda! Here we come with our money!
We were seriously thinking of getting the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. But after this mess with american cars. We're looking at the Toyota FJ Cruiser instead!
Americans look like they hold up just fine in those ratings... what was the point of you posting it?
...and yet bikag is excited as all get out to buy a Honda...which doesn't have any better rating than Ford on the JD Power study he posted....and the difference between them is a wash on the one I posted.

Yep... congrats to Lexus too. I can never tell people enough good things about the LS400 we had, other than how everything was overpriced. I'll stick to my reasonably priced, reliable American cars.
I do not want to take chances...My time is money...Plus I do not want my wife to be stranded somewhere. I do not have time to deal with headaches.
To be fair, I have rented several American Cars on business trips. The one I liked was the Pontiac Grand Am. It felt peppy for a small Car. However, when it comes down to it ... I stick with Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura...BMW is a close 2nd, but only because I love the way they drive....I have had some electrical issues with them. again, I would not pass up on a z06 vette...but my wife won't let me buy one

the new zr1 and cts-v are the only two current american cars i'd have. and even then, i'd use the zr1 only as a track weapon. however i personally think the heydey of american cars was the roaring 20's. give me a dusenberg over the post ww2 detroit stuff.

No doubt. An alternator is one of the easiest things to replace. Sorry Brikag, but I think you must have been wearing your sucker sign that day. j/k
After owning nothing but american cars ;I had the chance to buy a i year old 1993 honda accord for my wife. I was amsed at the way it frove for a fou8r cylinder. We keep iot 11 years with only normal maintenance and sold t at a very good price with about ten people wanting it. It drove as good as the day we bought it. The lady at work who bought it is still driving it, Her first honda and she is sold on them. Now we have a four year old Canry that has same record. Just bought a new Odessey after seeling my F-150 that I spent thousands on in repairs with only 60,000 miles.
