I wonder what the economic impact of the Chicago Street Race will be for the city? Most of what I'm hearing about this race has been negative from the locals including many of the political leaders of the city, even from drivers who say its just another gimmick race.

The 2023 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is expected to bring a whopping $1.2 billion impact to Las Vegas. That's twice the SuperBowl impact!

The 2022 Miami Grand Prix greatly boosted the local economy, with the race generating $350 million and the average tourist spending nearly $2,000.

F1 is huge at COTA. Totally dwarfs the NASCAR crowd. And Austin is full of tourists.

NASCAR has a huge image problem. Back in the roaring 90's, non-race fans probably knew the name of at least one or two NASCAR drivers.

I heard that there was this 80/20 rule. Where 80% of race fans rooted for about 20% of the drivers in the field. Guys like Dale Sr, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, etc...

Who are the big well known stars of today? Active NASCAR fans will probably say Chase Elliot. Buy why? Just because he is voted as the fan favorite, for being one of the fans favorite sons? He has one championship so far. He has nowhere near the personality of say Smoke, or even Kevin Harvick back in his youth...

Let's admit. NASCAR created this and dug their own graves. They filtered out the personality DNA out of our current crop of young drivers. The sanctioning body threatens to fine drivers who show personality. Their rules are confusing. There is little excitement about todays races and drivers. Future fans (young people) don't care to watch races.

If they don't do something VERY soon as far as drivers and the on field racing, NASCAR will be relegated back into the regional audience they had back in the 1970's, if those fans still care enough to support.

Everyone knows how much of a competitive advantage those bolts gave the #3 car.

Just like the modified hood louvres and greenhouse modifications.

And this is what NASCAR is concerned about....

The SR/Gordon rivalry blew NASCAR up. Because just as much as having some to cheer FOR, there is just as much to have someone to cheer AGAINST. There really isn't anyone I really don't like in today's NASCAR.

Also, everyone blames NASCAR, but it's the sponsor dollars have played a big part in making NASCAR so boring.

That's a good observation about sponsor dollars. Many sponsors don't really understand the appeal of NASCAR and have forced their drivers to just be a vanilla corporate spokesperson for their brand.

Rainbow Warriors Jeff Gordon is teaming back up with Ray Everham for the All-Star race!

JG will drive the pace car and Ray will wave the green flag!

Based on my experience with NASCAR's "asphalt modified" division, they basically want the cars to all be the same, so they can do a "tech inspection" easier and quicker.....

KB For the win at 'Dega. I was hoping Blaney would get it. I wonder if he and Bubba are still friends?
