1. Budget: Will be earning approximately $39K/year.
2. House/Condo/Townhome? Don't really care... but probably not a house!
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) I will have a car, but really love public transportation.
4. Children(public school vs. private) Woah, way too young to be having kids now...
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two I'd really prefer an urban lifestyle
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? It'd be nice
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. No huge preferences, but being able to walk to the train/shops/food, etc. would be nice. I will be working in Cumberland (right off of the perimeter interstate). I don't mind a moderate commute to work...

Just a bit more info about myself... University student graduating in a week. Just accepted a dayjob in Atlanta. Also, any German communities in/around ATL? Any and all help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Default Thinkinf of MOVING to GA

Hello

I am hoping to get some positve feedback here. Sometimes I take a peek here and I see a lot of negative things and I really get nervous but oh well here it goes. I am currently in NJ and recently divorced so I am looking to start over. I have 3 kids, one that will be starting college in the fall and the other 2 are 10 and 6. I would like to a mix, but middlclass would be great. I will have my bachelor in Feb and Im current working in Healthcare Administration. I don't have a lot saved as NJ is a very expensive place to live. Basically what is the job market like?
What are some of the best Middleclass cities to live? I don't want to be to close to ATL as the traffic can be horrid.
Any information would really be helpful. I am hoping to move between 3/14 - 6/14.

Hi,

I'm planning to come in September to Altanta, as a international student (I'm coming from Czech Republic). I'm looking for a small studio to rent for one year, preferably close to SCAD, or in a safe area close to SCAD. My budget is $700-$1,000, all included. I don't drive, so I will be most of the time using local transportation. I'll be very grateful for any recommendation you can make.

You can probably find some nicer apartments that are not smack dab in the middle of midtown, and still close enough to a train station. If you definitely want to live in Midtown near you campus, probably going to have to up the ante (like 1000 to 1500 for apartments).

If you don't mind a ride on the bus, I'd venture out to the L5P/Candler park areas. . .more affordable apartments in that area.

This is my first so go easy on me. I'm planning on moving to Atlanta or the surrounding areas within the next few months. I would like to rent a home or find an apartment that doesn't check credit history. I'm looking for either 1 or 2br. I would like the price to be below 750. I would prefer a decent area is possible within price range. Looking for a change of scenery, so I don't know where to start. Any suggestions???

Default Moving to ATL soon...

Unmarried couple
combined salary of $150k/year
Looking for house in the $200k range
Mixed lifestyle of urban/suburban
SAFE neighborhood
Closeness to pub trans is not necessary
Would like something close to the Beltline if possible

Neighborhood suggestions? Thinking Buckhead or Midtown, but very much open to suggestions bc I've only been once!

Much appreciated!
