You do have to ask yourself why the Dems would put u[ and so solidly back a no name, little substance candidate? He does appear substantive in the non-stop ads, if you are not paying attention. Still...

Maybe there is more to the guy then appears, upon close investigation.

Since when does "the best candidate we could put out there" ever run for any office, in any election? Pretty sure that's not how politics works.

My frustration is the district is ripe for the taking and they trot this clown out there. I am voting for him but know many Democrats who are not because he is the very definition of an empty suit with not a firm stance on any subject and if he is indeed the best we could muster then it is a sad state of affairs because he needs every vote he can get. He isn't going to win in a runoff situation. The fact that like 92% of his money is from out of state tells us how bad he is. There is no way you can look me in the face and tell me this is even close to being the best person we could put out there. The best this guy can offer is "xyz is bad and I am against it!!!!" You don't think that is pitiful?

My guess is that a lot of Dems are just unhappy with the way the Republicans have been doing (or undoing) things, especially since Trump got elected.

Democrats and Republicans alike. Liberals and conservatives alike. I've never seen such a mess in DC like we have now. Makes Romper Room look well organized.

Jon Ossoff has scant financial support in Sixth Congressional District | Kyle Wingfield

Osoff getting 97% of his over $200 contributions ("itemized") from out of state. Democrats outside of Georgia definitely fired up. Not clear that it is the case among people who can actually vote for him.

"...But let’s look at what we do know. Now that we’re all clear that the “out-of-state” figure applies only to the itemized donations, let’s calculate how much money each candidate has definitely raised in-state. Here’s what those totals look like for these candidates (rounded to the nearest thousand):
Ossoff: about $79,000
Hill: about $331,000
Handel: about $339,000
Gray: about $108,000
Moody: about $86,000
LeVell: about $34,000
Add up the local-money totals for those five Republicans (out of the 11 Republicans in the field) and you get almost $900,000 compared to Ossoff’s almost $80,000 — a ratio of more than 11 to 1. That’s incredible. Consider also that even a candidate like Moody managed to raise more local money than Ossoff, even though on the whole he has raised 1/25th of the amount Ossoff has (that’s in itemized contributions; the gulf is much larger overall)."

I don't think that's unusual.

In these days of Citizens United all kinds of out of state money and corporate funding floods into local elections when one party senses a weakness in the other.

Trump wasn't exactly setting the world on fire up in that area.

Having canvassed, I can attest that there are a lot of 6th district people who are "fired up." Is it enough to win? I don't know, but there is plenty of enthusiasm.

Osoff should easily pass 50%.
