The Pantheon does not have enough open air. It like the old Texas Stadium, just an open hole over the field.
The Solarium opens up to most of the stands and has open end zones as well, allowing air flow.
I was thinking something more along the lines of Lucas Oil Stadium that would complement the surrounding historic architecture.

I agree that they should open it up more.

Ever seen the real pantheon? Its hole is tiny. Maybe they were going for something like that.

But while I'm not necessarily in love with the wild pantheon design, the solarium design does not come across as anything you would find in an urban environment. It looks like a barn. I didn't read any comments before I saw the video and that is the first thing that came to mind. It looks like it belongs in the country, not our downtown. But I do like how open it is. I think with some modifications I could come around to it.

I do agree that the pantheon is barely an open air stadium. If that was a major objective in building a new stadium, that design doesn't really meet that goal.

That should have read "hail storms". Dammed spell check.

Hair storms is funnier and scarier at the same time.

The opening is slightly larger than the entire football field which I think is slightly larger than the opening in the old Texas stadium. At any rate, we've had football in a dome for 20 years so I don't think it would be a bad trade-off.

Regarding the "barn" appearance of the Solarium, everyone should remember that this is the initial concept. Additional details will still need to be determined for whichever concept is chosen such as the materials used in the facade. Solarium is very similar to Lucas Oil Stadium which is a great looking stadium. If Solarium were chosen, it could also have some other embellishments to enhance its appearance.

Exactly why I prefer the Solarium of the 2, but this version has even more openness than Lucas Oil.

The engineering to make that roof work is going to be challenging (read: costly) enough as it's currently drawn- making the hole larger is only going to make it more challenging.

The roof of the Pantheon looks transparent. If you look at the aerial rendering, you can so e of the seating.

Well, let's not forget, I'm the one who didn't want to spend a single dime on this thing. I lost that argument. So, since everyone else wants it, don't look at me when the money runs out before it's built. Now that it's settled and they're going to build it, all I want is a good product. I don't think the solarium is a good product based on the way it looks when the roof is closed.
