Lake Harris near Tuscaloosa is an amazing place, and my favorite day trip during college. It starts out with a steep hike down to the Lake Harris dam. Across that you hike another trail to another dam. Follow the spill way down to a gorgeous natural swimming hole, and water slide (after a rain when the water is high). If you keep hiking into the woods you get to a steep hill off to the right of the trail. If you climb that there is a really nice overlook. To get to the trail head from Tuscaloosa follow New Watermelon Road to County Road 42. Take a right and go a few miles. Turn right onto Lake Harris Road which is a dirt road. Follow it until you can't go any further and you will see the trail. Enjoy!
