Temps are warming up in Vancouver. I decided to celebrate what white Christmas we had left from the water. It was nice to be able to paddle again after being dry docked due to the flu. I really wanted to do some ice breaking if any remained. I did find some near shore but it was too shallow to paddle across. Still, a fun day on the lake and surprising uncrowded too. lol

It's all melted now. We had a big windstorm overnight, many out of power but we didn't have an outage. Another windstorm is supposed to arrive later today and minor river flooding is predicted. It's very muddy after the melt.

Skies are very gray but it's warm (50 degrees).

Surprisingly we don’t have any mud on our property.
I think that’s because our lot is graded and full of mulch and organic debris.
Now going to the dog park we really need to kit up in our mud gear.
That place was a mud pit today.

I hope everyone who says "it doesn't rain hard in Seattle, it's just a gentle mist like mizzle" enjoyed the torrents of rain overnight. There's standing water on many roads this morning.

Whatcom County Weather - Posts | Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/WhatcomCountyWeather/

This isn't getting any coverage as of yet, breaking news from our local weather guy Randy.
Sadly, the melt, heavy rain, and king tides have combined and are flooding Birch Bay and Sandy Point again, Gooseberry Point, and part of Orcas island is also seeing flooding.
Edit, the Nooksack River is also over its banks (minor flood stage) around Lynden downstream to the mouth. Christmas morning, an ice dam caused the river to flood the Ferndale-Marietta are and Sheriffs rescued 6 people by boat from their homes.
Edit 2. Other users are posting pictures under the comments on the weather page, so you must expand the comments under each picture. It's bad, flooding near the golf course on Hwy 20 near Anacortes, LaConner, and Samish Island. Boulevard Park in Bellingham flooding also. Power was shut down in birch bay after reports of submerged utility boxes smoking in Birch Bay. We kind of wrote this one off expecting a few waves to push some junk onto the road at Birch Bay drive but boy were we wrong. Looks like the highest surge yet...

We caught a break in the rain bands today which was dry most of the day in Vancouver. It warmed to the upper 40s and was a nice day for outdoor activities.

We had another mostly dry today in Vancouver. I took advantage of the conditions to get out and go for a local hike. Here's a few pics. Our green forest reminds me why rain is such a blessing even if it doesn't feel like it at times.

We had some clearing today with a mixture of sun, clouds and blue skies in Vancouver. It was a a nice final day of 2022 and a good one to get outside in the upper 40s.

Just typical winter weather here, 40s, cloud cover, on and off rain. Lots of mud.

Happy New Year all.
It’s kinda a nice glum day here.
Overcast, no wind, just under 40 degrees and looks like it may rain a bit.

My California friends and family sent out their New Year greetings to me and asked if I was in a snow storm.
Apparently they are in a nice storm front down there and I didn’t really care until I was sent a pic of my creek rising to flood levels .
