All I know is if I do keto all my labs go into the crapper. Cholesterol, to much protein in urine and inflammatory markers go up. So obviously a huge "no" for me.

From simply an observational perspective? My neighbor had come over after I hadn't seen him for a couple months. I was shocked by his appearance. My first thought is he must have cancer. Definitely thinner, but looked super unhealthy. He then went on to praise the keto diet he has been strictly adhering to. He looked 10 years older.

I tried Keto when it was all the rage. Lost some weight. Felt nauseous, hair started falling out, skin broke out...not for me....

Yeah, I felt horrible. Did it for a few months until I got my labs and then stopped.

Tried it a year later, because labs can be bad for a variety of reasons, all labs good when I started, 2 months later.... bad labs.

I just started carnivore diet (3 weeks) and losing weight and no longer crave sweets like I did. Seems to be working but I am concerned what it will do to my borderline high cholesterol numbers.

There are many doctor now saying we have been lied to about high cholesterol and I believe it, I suggest you search and watch some youtube videos of doctors who have alternative views based on studies and data. I believe having a high HDL number is far more important than than whether or not LDL is high. A Japanese study suggest that the lower the cholesterol, the younger you will die statistically.

No doubt chubby faces look younger than thin faces. And if he just lost the weight his skin will take longer to catch up - and it may not tighten back up.

But honestly, I'd rather see someone who lost pounds and is at a more healthy weight with extra wrinkles and saggy skin than an obese person that I know has unhealthy fat packed around all their organs. His body is going through a healing process and he's got to feel amazing if he's not carrying all that extra weight. Good for him.

Long ago I gave up trying any type of diets. Experts are constantly changing their minds about what’s healthy. Now that I lost weight 4 years ago I just know how many calories I can eat to maintain my weight loss. I have exercised daily for 38 years.

I try to eat a balanced healthy diet and I don’t worry about cholesterol as it can really change year to year. I read the studies on pubmed to understand how it works and know that medication is only helpful for a small group of people that meet certain criteria.

He was never what I would have considered overweight. Tall Japanese man.

He lost maybe 15 lbs? It was more the pallor of his skin. Anyway, I think he passed away these past couple years.
