Yup, and if I show anybody this pic...

...nearly everyone knows who that is. Why? Good PR, even for a fictional character.

OK, but on the other hand, what about the people who held these writings originally and had to see them added to and reinterpreted and their Yahweh turned into a God very different than they understood Yahweh to be?

From Moses (or what is written of him in the Torah), he told us we should listen to men who were just like himself, that is prophets. So from this perspective, there was room according to Torah that provided for more words and insight from Yahweh. It might come down to opinion of whether or not new writings present God in another light. It's generally accepted for practitioners of Judaism the TaNaK (OT) as a whole is divinely inspired. Even if we disregard the NT, the OT is still writings from many prophets and kings.

It is a mistake to think God has influenced ONLY those in ancient times. It is absurd to think God would ever stop inspiring us. Of course, God continually influences us, but few pay any attention, especially those in designated religions. They are completely immersed in the ancient inspirations and ignore (or consider heresy) any ongoing ones. It is illogical, but the difficulty in ascertaining what is and is not inspiration from God does not make it easy to identify any new inspirations.

Since I see the "mind of Christ" as the "mind of God," it is easier for me to assess any such claims. That is why the Urantia book is intriguing despite so many of its outlandish claims. There is much that is compatible with the "mind of Christ" in it. I believe it is important to discount the fallible human motivations and flawed methods and claims of anyone presenting their understanding of God (i.e., Padgett, Joseph Smith, etc.) and deal only with the content and its compatibility (or not) with the "mind of Christ." That means the content of the Quran, the Upanishads, or the many authors in the Bible as well. We all too frequently are distracted by the authors of spiritual content and NOT the content itself!

Muslims believe the following abuot Jesus

The Prophet Mahammad (peace_be_upon_him) said:
There is no prophet between me and him, that is,
jesus (peace_be_upon_him).
He will descent (to the earth).
When you see him, recognise him:
a man of medium height,
reddish fair,
wearing two light yellow garments,
looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet.
He will fight the people for the cause of Islam.
He will break the cross,
kill swine, and abolish jizyah.
Allah will perish all religions except Islam.
He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die.
The Muslims will pray over him.

All of which differ from one another, and while I agree more witnesses is generally a positive, when they're all telling different versions of events, it may not be a net positive.

And if the bible has a clear central message over it's 66 books, why do we have Judaism and over 45,000 Christian denominations with slightly different doctrines?

Neither book shines when it comes down to science either.

Muslims believe the following abuot Jesus

he is supported by Ruh-ul-Qudus [ the holy spirit Jibril (Gabriel)]
he spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity

Allah taught him writing, the wisdom, the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel);
and he made out of the clay a figure like that of a bird, by Permission of Allah,
and he breathed into it, and it became a bird by Permission of Allah ,
and he healed those born blind, and the lepers by Permission of Allah,
and he brought forth the dead by Permission of Allah;
and Allah restrained the Children of Israel from him
(when they resolved to kill him) as he came unto them with clear proofs,
and the disbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident magic.'

If anyone reads my posts, they know that I am a follower of the medium and prominent attorney James E. Padgett, who was personally selected by Jesus as the medium who would receive by way of automatic writing his spirit communications of the real truths. The first printed message by Jesus is dated September 12, 1914.

Jesus wrote about his life, who and what is God, what is the Holy Spirit, and the importance of receiving God’s Divine Love in our soul, as he was the very first human to receive it. This is why Jesus is so special. He is like into the Father because Divine Love is the very essence of God.

The messages from Jesus, John, Luke, and many well-known spirits can be read at the Truth for all People website and the book volumes: True Gospel Revealed Anew by Jesus.
