Great post. The modern arrogance of atheism (which I previously had) is the result of "too little" knowledge of the science they revere, IMO.

Thanks Mystic.
Yes, and that’s why I just see atheism as a “limitation.”
I also had that self-importance, sense of intellectual superiority and arrogance growing up in an atheist family of Stanford professors, so I don’t let them bully and intimidate me.

But thankfully, not all atheists have that sense of superiority— my husband is mature and self-confident enough to respect others’ paths and not feel the childish need to ridicule and bully.

Admirable effort you put into this post Mountainrose, I have to give you credit.

Actually think you should take all this info and start a new thread with it.

It's a hard one for us atheists to argue, I have to say. We will have fun trying though.

Thanks, but I don’t have the time or intellectual stamina to manage a thread like that right now — (kudos to LearnMe) but this thread is about SIGNS and all of those people I found above had experienced some internal SIGN pointing them to an intelligent creator of this universe.
I and others are comfortable calling that creator God….

Off to pick my asparagus and plant more raspberries

Yes.

To be honest realizing God's existence is very humbling. All his signs observed in retrospect are amazing.

For instance: I didn't create a lovely painting myself. It was God who inspired me and God again who worked using my brushes/my hands. It keeps the ego low.

So I say "thank you" to God and stay humble. And when I lose the humbleness a little because I'm human, God intervenes with his gentle loving hand to put me in place again. A little suffering here, a little there to increase my compassion and understanding and to help me remain humble. And I say again, "Thank you God for that lesson".

Spiritual life is not easy, it's hard work. And it's not a circus either in a sense that God doesn't come with obvious giant experiences like in the movies with rainbows or lightnings or voices or other 'in your face' performances.

I don't know how God is perceived by others (actually I know for a few close friends of mine) but in my case I feel like he's very shy and unassuming. And he likes to play hide and seek. He's very shy.

I have a friend that is a flat earther.
Regardless of the evidence I present his opinion remains unchanged.
Some folk have such distrust in government or technology that every odd thing given a different view can't be true, believing the government is deceiving them. (so my friend says)
Only some personal experience might change their mind.
People in desperation sometimes finally (usually a life/death event) turn to God as a last-ditch effort and finally receive Jesus into their life and their world changes. Only God knows the truth of a man's heart/mind, if he is real or fake in his pursuit.
My flat earther friend says he believes in Jesus, but I suspect that he has never developed a relationship yet due to his easily being swayed in conflicting directions.
A commitment to God is required, most are afraid of, not knowing or trusting that God will see them through, or that world acceptance will be lost, or worse, God might ask them to do something they are afraid of.
These are reasonable expectations seeing the things prophets and Jesus disciples went through. Never the less, Jesus provided for those that seek His Lordship the Holy Spirit to guide them in God's will.
I don't expect God to support my blunders or misgivings or human nature. He knows what I'm made of, my strengths and weaknesses. He however blesses me more than I deserve, particularly when I've been obedient.
Something to note of those that had put off God till later in life is the regret for having put off God for so long and the potential lost in living with out Him.

What if I received a sign but I don't know what it means? This question is for believers. Ever happened to any of you? I hope my sign will be explained eventually.

Thanks.

i carry that into our ongoing dialogue and prayer. asking along the lines of "please show me more on this" "please help me understand my role in this" "please help me understand the significance of this." for many years and decades i also used the phrase "and make it so clear i can't possibly miss it." I have absolute trust in the divine. but there have been times when i did not always trust myself to understand what i was being shown, or to have clarity. i also will do random searches and just browse for general information. not that i accept or expect anyone else's interpretation to explain mine, but it almost always leads me along a path where i am given more information, even if it is in a roundabout way.

i also have to observe and be aware of any resistance i have. for months and months i was consistently shown something and i brushed it aside. well it did not go away and so i started researching and browsing on it. and still brushed it aside. well eventually i realized that it is not my part to ignore, so I began to be more open to what it was showing me. And it led to one of the most significant areas of growth for me with immense power and potency. so, ensuring i don't get in my own way also.
