I am an observant Jew, but growing up in a small southern city, my mother thought it was important to know the faith of others and hence, on Sundays I would go sometimes with our housekeeper to her church. The "rule" was I had to sit in the balcony and not sing. But I still love black gospel and from time to time, still go and sit in the balcony. I love Mosie Burks: https://www.google.com/search?client...id:-_jBA_c3XUo

I grew up southwest Houston and I bet I have visited 20 black churches and a multitude of white churches when I was a Christian, besides being in the Christian ministry in those days, I visited a couple different churches evert week for a year, and believe me, I have seen everything lol. Black churches can really be fun though, its those back east Texas Pentecostals almost akin to Amish, some with a cultish idea that you dont discuss the bible without pastor being there. Some like you might find in the isolated Smoky Mountains, east Texas has them all, every flavor, but we got the best vocals when it comes to sourthern Bapist, put them with some modern Pentecostals and we mogjt have a new Motown.
That's how I feel about River of Dreams; in fact, it includes the line, "I don't know about a life after this, Lord knows I've never been a spiritual man".

I suppose that just about everyone has that one special song that most touches them in the core of their being.
