This will be my first winter in SW Oklahoma...any info what to expect? In Dallas we had balmy days alternating with cold temps all winter long. Would it be similar here, or do you get a hard freeze that lasts until spring?

Pretty much like Dallas but a bit windier. A little more ice, a little more snow. In a normal winter we usually get about three weeks of really cold weather (highs in the 30s) interspersed in the three to four months of winter. The rest of the time the highs range between about 45 degrees and 60 degrees.

There are some winters that are worse than that (maybe two in 10). But that is pretty much typical. Rarely is it better than what I just described.

SW Oklahoma is about 1,000 feet higher in elevation than Dallas so that alone makes it a few degrees cooler. A little dryer too being farther west.
