My username is the same. I never updated my location. I moved to Oklahoma from Maine and only lived in Oklahoma for 2 years (2009-2011) for school.

Ah, okay. Welcome back to the Oklahoma chat thread. I think I joined CD in 2007 if you can believe that.

I have not had a steak in months! I no longer cook. There was a period there right after I retired where I qualified for an EBT card. Which is like food stamps except it's on a debit card. And I will see people going to the store and buying really horrible junk food chips pop just unhealthy food. And I would go in and buy bananas and veggies and a couple of ribeyes. Well they started giving more money out when there was a covid shutdown. So I was getting close to $200 a month give or take. But I don't qualify anymore. Waa!

Are you guys in the Tulsa area or Oklahoma City area?
The next time you folks are in Oklahoma City you need to go to the Stockyards Steakhouse. We would go there for special occasions. They really do have excellent steaks.
So pardon my intrusion into your forum... wandered in here looking for information for a future visit.

Stockyards was top shelf, highly recommend that place. We visited OKC last year, and made a point to stop there while bringing a car back to FL from CO. In fact we really liked OKC, as well as the parts of the state we saw while driving, overall. Visited the National Memorial, walked around downtown too... Everyone we interacted with traveling through that state was friendly and welcoming. Planning to go back and spend more time visiting different areas in 2024.

We are hiking and fishing enthusiasts. Any suggestions for lakes to visit and fish during our visit to OK? Thank you!

Southeastern Oklahoma. Our go to is either Lake Wister or Broken Bow. Perfect fusion of upper and lower South. Beautiful and a great terrain for hiking and you can catch more fish than you can shake a stick at.

Indeed. I wrapped up the outside spigots.

Crazy weather. Looking warm again moving into the weekend.

This is not pretty! Our neighborhood is small and quiet. I did not turn the porch light on and neighbors know that SO just got home from the hospital (he calls is raw around the edges). What looked like a family dressed up was coming towards the house so I grab a bowl of candy and step outside. Not from around here. Several Suburbans were parked within sight. The next group. Are they bussing in?

Yep, they’re probably bussing in.

It’s a weird trend that started a decade ago (or more?) where big groups started driving in mass away from their own neighborhoods presumably because their own neighborhood wasn’t active and engaged with trick or treaters.

So, the younger people with kids who would keep the traditions going strong on their street leave to go to other neighborhoods (sadly often wealthier ones) where they can have a better experience in their minds.

I’m not a fan of it as I think it diminishes community and well-being in the immediate neighborhood. But other than mobilizing our own streets and neighborhoods to be more engaged, there’s no stopping the trend sadly.

We personally had to skip Halloween this year:>(

After I learned how to wintereze the sprinklers - guess what. Nice and cozy and a/c is on. Welcome OK. You do not like the weather just sit tight for a minute.
