Ground and roofs are white. Wind is blowing everything sideways. Please remember - it does not get cold in Oklahoma.

LOL. That reminds me of a man who moved here from another state and he bought some land here in Oklahoma dirt cheap, sight unseen. He moves here with his 11 loving dogs and that first winter he was here we had an ice storm.

I remember he was saying he didn't think it got cold in Oklahoma. The guy was an idiot. He would breed his herefords with Brehmer bulls. And every single calf was born dead but he would keep trying for some reason.

We had a "smoke alarm event" Friday early morning. Part for geothermal will arrive when it does as the plant in Utah is closed for the holidays. Under rug heat pads keep the furries happy, fireplace is roaring and heat kicks in on emergency which means run by electricity. At least the generator will take over once power goes out. Merry Christmas!

Our house warming present from Oklahoma was one of those ice storms. Against everyone's advise I had the movers pack the pantry. Nobody went hungry.

"Pack the pantry". LOL! I will not make any comments...

My fur babies have taken over the electric blanket and the extra quilt I bought on wednesday. I had my little space heater blasting all night and it's actually pretty warm in my bedroom.

You are welcome to chuckle but I did not leave the contents of a walk in pantry behind and it paid out:>)
It is miserable out there. Thank you for leaving the electric blanket to the furries.

I never thought 10° F would feel so darn good. It's primarily because that darn north wind is gone.

I packed the freezer before the winter storm hit. And I just went into town and I was very tempted to hit a fast food joint. But I told myself no, don't go hitting the fast food when you got a freezer full of food.

It's like Palm Springs or Phoenix here today. My weather app says "Temperatures to plummet on Thursday"... to slightly above average.

There were all kinds of predictions that this would be a horrible winter. We had a rough patch there but so far so good in January. Every day it's nice outside is a day closer to spring time.

More precipitation and cooler temperatures are needed during the winter season when evaporation rates are low. Currently there are many areas of extreme and exceptional drought. Otherwise, welcome to 110F this summer: (Dry ground heats up much faster than wet ground).

Well I guess we will find out. But I'll take all the 50s, 60s and 70s we can get during the winter and worry about the summers when they get here.

But summer is usually like winters in Oklahoma. Get a few extremes, get a few cooler temps and a lot of hot but not horrible days. We've had plenty of reasonably temperate winters around here that were followed by reasonable summers. Maybe not temperate...but reasonable.... meaning not a lot of triple digit heat. There have been a few summers though that were as you described.
