You are correct in that Rivers Edge is in Shallotte.

Rivers Edge Plantation is off of Hwy 90 as previously stated.

I'm not quite sure where River Oaks Plantation is, however, River Oaks is just off Hwy 501 in the Carolina Forest Community.

SXM Girl,

I work for the developer of River's Edge and it located in Shallotte, North Carolina, about 12 miles north of the South Carolina line. I think the other gentleman is confused with another community.

I'm not sure which other gentleman you're referring to but I'll be sure to post a pic of the entry sign so as to clear up any confusion on my behalf. I, possibly erroneously, did make reference to the above community as Rivers edge, when, in fact, as I noted before, it is Rivers Edge PLANTATION.

Apologies to any who may have been confused by this.

I worked for that company in Shallotte, Rivers Edge(The Coastal Companies). Great company great communities, great people and great times and yes it's in Shallotte.

I live in Glenmoor subdiv across 90. The area is rural. Out side of my subdiv is miles of forest. That is why the whole area almost when up in flames last month. However, it is only 13 min into town: NMB or Conway. Traffic is a joke; nothing to complain about. Just get some speed before passing that car driving 40mph. The subdivision looks dead. There is no building activity at all. There are a lot of lots sold but no building. The exsisting home about 5 are all large size (2500-4000 sf): pure guess.

To comment on the RIver's Edge Plantation..here is web site.. www.riversedgemb.com
it is on Carolina Forest Blvd....Traffic there is awful/they are building new sub wekly seems like it's hard to get out of there especially in AM or afternoons...
there are numerous subd. there already amd four more planned. I work on Gardner Lacy one block up which is where Carolin Forest HS is located. CF Elementary is on CF Blvd. several churches a railroad and many subdivisions...that area is fastest growing in the county.. we currently have 9 high schools and are building two more in next 3-5 years one in CF high area and one in St James/ Socastee High area. Last year we grew 1800 students in school year between these two school areas.

I live in the subdivision, and I think it is very nice. You can build your own home, hire a builder of choice, or now you also have the option of having DR Horton build your home. There are no time requirements, so it has gotten off to a slower start, but I don't mind. It is gated and the back of the subdivision is on the river. There is a community boat dock, and starting soon there should be a pool/amenities area. The wildlife is incredible and when international drive finally gets paved it will be a ten minute drive to Myrtle Beach. I looked on the Horry County Schools website, and to answer questions about the schools, it IS in the Carolina Forest School District with children attending Waccamaw Elementary, Blackwater Middle, and Carolina Forest High School.
