I thought some time ago that Harvey Gantt.. a prominent african amerian architect, former Mayor of Charlotte and Clemson Alum did some pro bono work to come up with a Master Plan for the town? I had heard that he had been talking with likes of Magic Johnson and others to do some form of resort with a Caribbean Theme in order to pay homage, though indirectly, to the African American culture?
It would be nice if someone could develop a proposal for a swath of the property owners where they could ground lease their property to a developer or form some sort of cooperative or LLC which would allow them to maintain some form of ownership interest in their property in addition to deriving some residual income from it? It appears that fear and lack of knowledge could be the root cause of their anst and it mainifest itself in the form of "dont trust the man" or each other for that matter. The NAACP(Horry Chapter) should devote some of its time to helping the town and its people connect with resources(technical assistance) and in exploring options that meet the needs of its residents in achieving common vision.
Well its interesting to see the comparison of Detroit, South Africa, and Atlantic Beach. All are overwhelmingly black, crime and drug ridden, survive on the back of the working class taxes, produce illegitimate babies by the dozen, and all because of their own decisions. Dont blame white people for your problems!
Several Atlantic Beach residents - including suspended mayor Retha Pierce - have filed a $50 million lawsuit against public officials and the town, which has an annual budget of about $860,000.
The 41-page complaint, which was filed July 2 in the U.S. District Court in Florence, cites several allegations including election fraud, stripping residents of their voting rights, and trying to eliminate the town.
[quote=brooksteach;15006830]Where is the adult book store? We are across the street from the beach? It isn't on that street is i The bookstore is down on highway 17. You cant miss this little dirty looking area as you drive by . There are some topless lap dance joints around there too. Its a cesspool for sin and degradation and for people just not being nice....lol
Well, the AB ex-mayor made the front page of the Suns News again today. Something about her house on fire.
Yes, the Highway 17 corridor along AB is a circus of freak shows, leasing by AB to the perverts and pimps in the area. It's sad for families having to drive through that corridor.
What is sadder is to see a line of golfing daddies from out of town standing in line to get in the Crazy Horse late at night.
What about your wives and children, at home, thinking Daddy is just having a fun time golfing and fellowshipping with his buddies?
I have seen the Crazy Horse and similar places on Hwy 17. We are on Ocean Blvd at Tahitian Princess. If we are on 17 we will be in our car but I want to know about being out walking around where we are staying. I saw there is a restaurant near 27th avenue. We are at the 33rd block. Is it safe to walk from 33rd to 27th? Are there "bad elements" hanging out right on Ocean Blvd?
