Don’t be surprised if your officers are already applying for work in police departments around the country and will quit working the instant they get a job offer elsewhere.

I've never liked the smugness, but this is frightening. I do not wish this for the city. I am, for the first time, very nervous for cities that always vote Blue. It's biting Minny in the a**, right now.

Well, they do say that some people can be so open minded that the brains fall out. Meanwhile, the Chicago forum has a thread thanking the Latin Kings for holding their block down from looters and arsonists...Maybe we'll see this in Minneapolis. It'll be like a real live Gangs of New York in half the Twin Cities.

Everybody will just move to St. Paul.

I’m making a prediction. If this goes into effect I predict property insurance rates will skyrocket, violent crime rates will increase, more businesses will close, unemployment rates will increase, tax revenue will drop, taxes will be increased because of the reduction in revenue, those who are capable will move away, police officers will apply for work in other areas and quit as soon as they’re hired, politicians in the council will blame Trump.

Each state has its own licensing requirements for peace officers so moving across state lines is not quite as simple as you seem to think.

The cops should all resign en masse. They'll make 10x more $ providing private security to gated communities and any business that doesn't want to be looted and burned to the ground.

We only have theee gated communities in the Twin Cities metro area. Businesses are barely open here.

Believe it or not Minnesota has high standards for becoming a peace officer. At least a 2 year degree, many have 4 year degrees.

Getting another police job out of state isn’t that difficult. It’s much more difficult to be an officer out of state and try to get a job here in Minnesota as an officer.

If the Mpls officers want jobs out of state...they will find them...en masse. There are departments very short of officers, all across the nation.

The proposal is to redirect some of the police funding to services that can help people. Cops can’t work with people that are mentally ill, etc. There will still be a police force.
