You don't know what you've got til it's gone. Oh, how I miss it all. Keep the pix coming. It cheers me up here in "paradise" (Florida).

Default 9-11-01

I wanted to post this on Thursday for the anniversary of 9/11 but got sidetracked.

My wife took this photo in the evening of 9/11 set against the backdrop of a beautiful Long Beach sunset. A true paradox of the ugliness of man versus the beauty of nature. We call the photo "Souls in the Sky".

Does anybody have a pix of the sign at McArthur that says Welcome to Long Island? Or a picture of the sailboat there?

I want to use it for my screen saver.

The photos posted here are amazing, thanks to you guys who've posted them. In spite of my user name, I never made it to Florida thankfully, as I was thinking of moving down with my parents. And they luckily are still in East Northport.

I now live in Astoria which is convenient to Long Island, but I still miss living out there all the time. Maybe it's because I grew up there, but there's a real special quality about Long Island - the great towns, history, natural beauty, it has so much going for it. I've never been anywhere that's impressed me as much. I'll have to dig around and see if I can find any photos to post.

I so miss seeing real trees in Florida. I raised my kids in Smithtown, so I know East Northport. Believe it's much nicer than Florida.

My younger daughter now also lives in Astoria and my older daughter is living in St. James. I am coming back to visit next week. I cannot wait. I so, so miss LI and NY.
