Tell me about Hauppague! (Huntington, Commack: house, school district, closing)

A relative of mine is closing on a house in Hauppauge. They have a 3 year old daughter. Moving from Little Neck, Queens.

I'm very familiar with Nassau county but once you get into Suffolk county I have a lot less knowledge. My relative really seems to like the area and their spouse already works in the Commack school district. My relative likely will have to commute into Queens and BK for work but it varies.

Overall how is it to raise children? Decent schools? They were looking to get a house in the Huntington area but just were priced out.

Middle of the Island, close to the LIE and Northern State Parkways. As far as I know, it is a good school district. No real center to the community, closest thing might be the high school/town line road/ route 111 area.

The community has alot of commercial development which helps to keep taxes lower. On the plus side, there is a large amount of parkland and wooded areas which give parts of the area an almost rural look, despite being a busy area.
