Hey, Thanks you guys for posting these beautiful photos! As we speak, my hubby is in Kentucky looking for property. We are west coast natives and have pretty much had a water view most of our lives, and are willing to give it all up just for an opportunity to own a small hobby farm in Kentucky. Toria, your photos are my "dream." It should make you feel proud to know that others admire your life decisions From Southern California to the Pacific Northwest, we've had our fill of working two jobs or 7 days a week just to make ends meet. Ready to move "inland" and start living a little. Bluegrass music, rural landscape, rolling hills, street parades with children walking their dogs .... Until then, we just "AintDownHome."
My families Homeplace in Hancock County Kentucky where my mother, grandfather and his father were all born. Also a wintertime scene from Hancock County Kentucky
Eric, your pictures aren't showing up, at least not on my browser. I have never posted pictures, so can't advise you how to do it successfully, but perhaps someone else can assist: Peter??
Finally figured out how to post photos! The photos are a mix of personal ones, and one that I found online that I liked. The first photo is from Hancock County Kentucky, my families homeplace where my mom and many family members were born. This house was built by my 2nd great grandfather after he left his families farm in Marion county Ky and moved to Hancock County and bought this farm and built this house. His families homeplace that "he" and all of his kin was born in is the old cabin in the photo in the 2nd comment.
The 2nd is a picture from a highway in central Kentucky late winter of some snow covered fields and "Knobs" in the background.
This is me as a kid in western Kentucky farm pond fishing, I was about 12 years old maybe 13? This was taken in northern Ohio County Kentucky
The 4th photo was taken from the Natcher Parkway in western Kentucky somewhere between Owensboro and Hartford Kentucky

This is the cabin in central Kentucky where my 2nd, 3rd and 4th great grandparents were born, built by my 5th great grandfather who came from Maryland in the 1790's. It is over 200 years old! It's where my 2nd great grandfather was born and raised before he married and bought the farm in Hancock county and built the old homeplace in the photo from the previous comment where my mother and grandfather was born. This cabin was restored by family and is currently being lived in by family members to this day. The porch was added on later I believe, it is not original.
This is the ole road that leads to our families farm that we call the old homeplace. It was gravel on up to the late 90's. My wife took this photo while I was driving. I know these old roads back in those hills like the back of my hand!
Northern Ohio county Kentucky, mid winter
Western Kentucky Tobacco field!I found this photo online and thought it reminded me of western Kentucky in the summer.....very memorable!
Here I am! About 12 years old, out of school for the summer and staying with my grandparents. Living outside in rural Kentucky and getting dirty! I'm holding a baby Walker Foxhound puppy that my grandfather was raising. I used to go foxhunting with him quite a bit when I was a kid....loved it!
