Currently 30 degrees here in the western burbs, partly cloudy. Anyone else get the light snowfall today for about 2-3 hours? No accumulation whatsoever, but still small flurries.

Still frickin snowing. Nice "3"" Weather Channel. There is probably already 6" on the ground here in the western burbs, and its coming down heavy as ever.

Snowed about 3 hours last night, gave us around 5-6". Now today its in the upper 30s and pouring outside, like something youd see in a tropical monsoon. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

I got stranded in Racine last night on my way home from an ice trial. It absolutely came out of nowhere. I drove right through Milwaukee without a flake in sight. By the time I got to Racine there was already a couple of inches on the ground, the interstate was a mess, visibility was close to nil and traffic was crawling along at 35MPH. After white-knuckling it for about 10 miles I said "hell with this" and found a hotel to bed down for the night.

I haven't had a WRX for 5 years now, so no. It wouldn't have mattered much anyway. There's no way I could have kept driving in conditions like that in any car. It wasn't really so much for lack of grip as the fact that I was seriously concerned for my safety. Too many people on the interstate were driving like absolute idiots under the circumstances, and seeing cars in the ditch and median was no deterrence for them. If I were the only person on the road I probably would have pressed on, albeit at a snail's pace.

Dang. I thought you had the WRX still, but drove a Maxima for daily driving. DOH!

Well, glad to see you made it home in one piece. I havent seen snow come down that hard and that fast in a looooooong time. We were averaging 2" an hour almost. Thats insane.

same thing happened to me on New Year's Eve....about 15 miles from my house I ended up in a hotel room! Too many cars in the ditch, the roads were not being plowed, and too many idiots still tailgating despite car after car sliding off the road! Made for an interesting holiday....at the Super 8 20 minutes from home! This has been the craziest winter in my memory....if all winters were this exciting I might like it here better....I prefer the craziness to the constant unrelenting brown snow and gray skies filled in with extreme cold.
