My Prius on avg only gets 40 - 42 MPG, 50 is only obtainable when the weather is just right and I'm willing to do 35 - 40 in the right lane in a 55 Zone ... So there's that too.

That's about where I'm at. Probably more like 44-46 mpg, but 42 if I'm not driving well.

Mine varies alot on I-35. On the occasions I do take it on trips, when driving 'TO' DFW I can get 45 - 47 MPG.. ..when driving 'FROM' DFW it goes down to about 35 - 37 MPG. No changes in driving habits either. Even checked to see if DFW was at lower elevations than ATX. I have yet to figure out that phenomena.

Morning commutes on the toll roads are usually 35 - 37 MPG. I don't start getting above 40 unless I'm on Parmer.

Headwinds/tailwinds can affect mileage quite a bit if strong enough.

My Prius is a feather weight. I think weighing less than 3,000 lbs and the evening winds here in TX will toss it around when I’m on the highway as to remind me I should be driving a ‘Texas Edition’ 5 ton lifted pickup instead of an eco beater in the state of Texas ... Usually I can feel it though...

I remember once on some backroads outside of FortWorth I was driving down some back road which ran through some farmland. It was paved but not marked. I ended up following behind a pickup for awhile before we came up to a creek with water deep enough where you could no longer see the pavement running over the road. The pickup didn’t even hesitate and drove right over it. I on the other hand was in the SS and stopped immediately, contemplated for a second and said ‘nope’ - turned around and had to find a detour. Through Winter Storm Uri it was the 4x4 Pickups trail blazing through the ice before anyone else. I generally don’t like big vehicles but Im starting to see the benefits.

Trucks can be affected by winds, though too. Have you ever happened to be near an 18 wheeler that isn't loaded when it's windy? Those things can sway into your lane is a second. I feel the wind more in my father's 2004 Silverado more than in any car I've ever had.

True, nothing is immune to wind but those trailers in general catch a lot more air than a Pickup does because they’re much taller and sit higher off the ground, that and they’re longer, although pickups aren’t really immune to wind either.

My dad was a truck driver and I have heard stories of Trucks and Wind, mainly in the great plain states where there were cases of them being completely lifted and in a few cases even turned in the opposite direction of which they were traveling.

any awd was good during uri. Tesla AWD was good during uri and has better acceleration than the SS.

I’m ganna eventually buy a Tesla... that or maybe a Porsche Mission E.

I hear the Tesla has a heat soak problem when performing at the track though which causes them to run slower and slower after every pass. I learned about it not to long ago. The Porsche Mission E seems to have solved it by using two separate motors and a larger battery - but it’s also heavy for a sports car.
