I am a widow, therefore, I do not have a husband to fix my car, any longer. Which means......I will be gauged by the Barracudas....in the business.
You are gauged by the company you keep, I guess. Or the car?
Many years ago, I worked with a guy who used to stay at Bed & Breakfast establishments when he traveled. However, he always referred to them as "Bread and Breakfast" places.
I guess that there was some logic to his terminology if bread was part of the breakfast that he was served, but I have always thought that a bed is the most important feature when you are choosing a place to stay for the night.
Speaking of "g words", I used to have a boss who confused "gorge" and "gouge". On an occasional basis, he would say, "I really gouged myself at dinner last night". Finally, I interjected by saying, "Perhaps you need to improve your fork technique, Jerry".
As usual, I got a blank stare in response.
